Post-Repair Inspections

Car Inspections Ireland has the expert service for you if you need a post-repair inspection following a crash.

Your insurance company may seek a post-repair inspection, certificate of roadworthiness, or insurance engineer’s report before allowing your vehicle back on the road. Our nationwide network of expert and accredited engineers is standing by to deliver that for you, no matter where in Ireland you may be.

We can carry out a 100-point post-repair inspection on any:

  • Car

  • Jeep, SUV, etc.

  • Classic car

  • Motorbike

  • Camper van or motor home

  • Light commercial vehicle (up to 3.5 tonnes)

Post-Repair Inspections are normally carried out within 24 hours, and our engineers always travel to wherever the vehicle is located – much more convenient for you than having to arrange for it to be brought to us.

You’ll get a phone call detailing the main findings immediately after the inspection is complete, and a detailed follow-up written report in the following 24 hours.

What we check for

We will assess the full vehicle and determine whether or not the repairs have been conducted to the correct and acceptable quality and standards.

We can ensure the repairs are in line with the safest standards and methods possible, and in compliance with best industry practice.

We can also assess the overall roadworthiness of the vehicle, and provide the post-repair inspection report, certificate of roadworthiness, or insurance engineer’s report that you require.

History and Finance Reports

With our Two Star Car Check level of inspection chosen, as with pre-purchase inspections, we also provide full vehicle history and finance reports – covering both Ireland and the UK – with all post-repair inspections we carry out.

The history check can be crucial in instances where a Category C or D (i.e. eligible for repair) crashed vehicle is being sold on to a third party following repair. It will show that a vehicle that was eligible for repair was repaired to the required standards by a competent repairer, and that a certificate of roadworthiness was provided to say the vehicle was sufficiently roadworthy and safe to meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act.
