Example 3 – Crashed Car For Sale

We immediately established that the car had previously been in a crash. We noticed that a number of areas had been re-painted quite poorly. We used electronic paint depth gauges to identify and measure any fillers used behind the paint, and also identify different depths of paint that would indicate the vehicle had been repainted.

We found several areas where extensive filling and repainting had taken place.

Some of these areas were structural, and were designed to form part of the integral strength of the vehicle. Damage to these areas of a car could compromise its safety features, and its structural integrity could no longer be guaranteed.

We informed the customer of our findings and advised them of the potential hazard of continuing to drive the vehicle in this condition. The person subsequently engaged a solicitor to recover her losses from the dealer she had bought the car from.
